Matt LaFleur’s club has won two straight division titles and wound up in the NFC title game each time. But the Green Bay Packers still have some work to do.

With all the news surrounding quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it could be easy to forget the fact that the Green Bay Packers have to get ready for the 2021 NFL season. For the second straight year, the club was basically a no-show when it came to free agency. General manager Brian Gutekunst wound up selecting nine players for the second consecutive year.

Of course, there’s less concern about the impact those youngsters could make for this franchise and more if a certain three-time NFL MVP will be on the team when the club opens the season at New Orleans. For now, Rodgers is certainly part of the team and there are no plans to trade him. But what about five other players?

5. WR Devin Funchess

We haven’t seen the 6-foot-4, 225-pound wideout on the field in quite some time. Devin Funchess began his career with the Carolina Panthers. And after four seasons, 161 receptions, 2,233 yards and 21 scores, he signed with the Colts in 2019. He caught three passes for 32 yards in the season opener but missed the rest of the season with a collarbone injury.

Courtesy of Spotrac, he inked a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Packers last offseason. But Funchess then opted out of the 2020 NFL campaign (via Zach Kruse of PackersWire.com). Is he set for a comeback? General manager Brian Gutekunst has an interesting decision ahead when it comes to the five-year performer.
