Wrigley Field is one of the most famous ballparks in the world. Anybody going to a Chicago Cubs game might wonder: What’s the best bar near Wrigley?

Established in 1914, Wrigley Field on Chicago’s North Side is the oldest park in the National League. Chicago Cubs fans have been through some heartbreaking years, but Wrigley’s been buzzing ever since the Curse of the Billy Goat was finally broken in 2016. The stadium was even named a national landmark in 2020.

A visit to Wrigley is a must for true baseball fans, but you already knew that. Read on to find the best places to stop for a cold beer on the way to the ballpark.

Must-visit sports bars near Wrigley Field

If you’re heading to one of baseball’s most hallowed grounds, here are our top four recommended watering holes en route.

Sluggers (3540 N Clark St, less than 0.1 miles to Wrigley)

Sluggers has been called a “sports bar on steroids” and for good reason. Not only is the bar right next to Wrigley and jam-packed with baseball fans all season long, but upstairs there’s a game room that dreams are made of. Seriously, the Upper Deck at Sluggers has full-size batting cages, so even if you’re there on a day when the Cubs can’t buy a hit, you still can.

With air hockey, skeeball, pop-a-shot basketball and all kinds of other games, Sluggers is a unique Chicago experience even when the Cubs aren’t playing. There are dozens of brews to choose from too, and the food menu has mouth-watering giant burgers, deep-dish pizza and more than 15 sandwich creations. Sluggers is both a local favorite and a must for sports fans visiting Chicago.

Murphy’s Bleachers (655 N Sheffield Ave, less than 0.1 miles to Wrigley)

If you can’t get a ticket to the game, Murphy’s Bleachers might just be the next best thing, especially if you’re a Cubs fan. Muphy’s is across the street from Wrigley and its rooftop patio has a clear view of the diamond. You’ll hear the roar of the crowd faster than the tape delay, but there’s plenty of flat-screen TVs to give you a closer look.

Plus, if it’s a dull game or you want to pass some time before the first pitch, there are enough Chicago sports memorabilia on the walls to spend an entire afternoon reminiscing. Get there early on game days because it’s sure to be packed with Cubs loyalists. Murphy’s is a North Side landmark you don’t want to miss.

The Cubby Bear (1059 W Addison St, less than 0.1 miles to Wrigley)

Known for its live music scene, The Cubby Bear throws an awesome post-game party, win or lose. With 30,000 square feet of space, there’s plenty of room to dance and mingle with your fellow baseball fans. Established in 1953, The Cubby Bear has been around for historic Cubs victories, but its year-round entertainment and feel-good vibes will keep you coming back.

Dimo’s Pizza Wrigley (3463 N Clark St, 0.2 miles from Wrigley)

OK, it’s not technically a sports bar, but in the words of FanSided‘s Editorial Director, “it’s drunk pizza.” We’re tossing it in here as it’s one of our favorite pre- or postgame pitstops. Dimo’s is open late, affordable and has a crazy creative take on ‘za, not to mention it serves cold beer. Essentially, it’s everything you need on game day. Plus, we love the triple-bottom-line ethos that underpins Dimo’s Manifesto. 10/10 would recommend.
