Kevin Durant was blown away by what Damian Lillard did in his epic Game 5 performance.

Shortly after Kevin Durant’s Brooklyn Nets advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals past the Boston Celtics, he took to Twitter to praise Damian Lillard for his amazing Game 5 performance.

While the Portland Trail Blazers lost in double overtime to the Denver Nuggets 147-140, Lillard did everything in his power to keep his team in the game. Lillard had 55 points in 52 minutes to go along with 10 assists and six rebounds. It was an incredible effort, but it was not enough to steal Game 5 away from Nikola Jokic‘s Nuggets in Denver. The Nuggets hold a 3-2 lead in the series.

Durant wanted to say a ton of things about Lillard’s performance, but came across as speechless.

Kevin Durant was at a loss for words over Damian Lillard’s incredible Game 5

With the Trail Blazers on the brink of elimination, they have to win at home in Game 6 on Thursday night. For as much fun as it has been to see Lillard enter Dame Time these last few postseasons, Portland might be in need of a bit of a reboot if they ever want to be serious contenders. Lillard is young enough to build another great team around him, but this core has hit its definite ceiling.

While there is no shame in dropping their first-round series to a team like the Nuggets, it is going to be so hard to run it back with this same Trail Blazers team. Again, Lillard is an unquestioned superstar tucked away in the Pacific Northwest up in Portland. However, he can’t drive 55 every night to make up for the Trail Blazers’ inability to play a lick of defense under any circumstances.

Durant knows first-hand how good Lillard is, even if a tough Trail Blazers defeat like this one.
