The NHL Draft Lottery 2021 is finally here, as a handful of teams are hoping the NHL Draft Lottery results fall in their favor. 

As the NHL Playoffs grind forward, the unlucky teams on the outside of the proverbial bubble are trying to find a way inside.

For some, that could start with the bounce of a ball and the drawing of a card. The NHL Draft Lottery 2021 is where teams like the Rangers, Devils, and Ducks hope to land a top pick to find a y young centerpiece for the future of the franchise.

Both New Jersey and New York have already struck lottery gold the past few years, yet both are picking in the lottery once again. The Devils have the fourth-best odds after picking No. 1 overall just two years ago, while the Rangers have the worst odds after picking No. 1 overall last year.

Perhaps most interestingly, the Seattle Kraken will be making the franchise’s first-ever draft pick later this month. Because the Kraken are an expansion team, but to maintain a level of fairness, Seattle was awarded the third-best odds at landing the top pick.

Arizona, on the other hand, will forfeit its first-round selection as a result of sanctions handed down by the NHL.

This year’s lottery will operate a little differently than previous years. The NHL Draft Lottery 2021 will consist of two drawings: the first lottery draw will determine the team selecting first overall, the second lottery draw will determine the club selecting second overall. After the second pick, the order will go in reverse order of the standings from the team with the worst record to the team with the best record.
