Aramis Ramirez says he felt ‘targeted’ by Bob Brenly in Chicago
Bob Brenly is under fire for controversial comments against Marcus Stroman, and now Aramis Ramirez has stepped forward and called him out.
It’s been a terrible week for Bob Brenly, as the former World Series-winning manager and current broadcaster is certainly under fire after some poor judgement showcased in a Mets vs. Diamondbacks game.
In case you missed it, Brenly made controversial comments against New York hurler Marcus Stroman. He’s since apologized to Stroman and the Mets, while also announcing that he’ll be taking sensitivity training. Well, in light of his comments, former Chicago Cubs slugger Aramis Ramirez has come forward and said he felt targeted by Brenly while in the Windy City.
Aramis Ramirez has called out Bob Brenley for previously targeting him in Chicago
Brenly made a comment about Stroman’s du-rag earlier in the week. Stroman quickly took to Twitter to voice his displeasure, while also saying he wasn’t going to let it bring him down. Ramirez decided he’s not going to sit back and let things slide, though, as he indeed said via The Athletic that he felt targeted by Brenly.
This is a rough look for Brenly. While he’s respected around the bigs, it’s not good when multiple players are calling him out for racist behavior. If anything, it should raise plenty of eyebrows. With Ramirez coming out and saying he felt like Brenly was going after him for being Latino, you’ve got to wonder if other players around the league feel the same way.
With Brenly agreeing to undergo sensitivity training, that tells you the Diamondbacks are ready to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again. If it does, Brenly very well could be out of a job in the near future.
