Devin Booker was thinking about Kobe Bryant during his 47-point performance in Game 6.

The Phoenix Suns ended the Los Angeles Lakers‘ season in Game 6 by way of Devin Booker’s 47-point performance that was inspired by the late, great Kobe Bryant.

Booker addressed this at the podium after the Suns’ series-clinching victory over Bryant’s former team. When it comes to getting a bucket at the two-guard position, few do it as well as Bryant used to than Booker in the NBA today. With the light shining on Bryant’s No. 8 and No. 24 retired jerseys, Booker knew for a fact that Bryant was at Staples Center on Thursday to take it all in.

Booker’s incredible play is just another example of how the legacy of the Black Mamba lives on.

Devin Booker says Kobe Bryant was on his mind during his 47-point performance

As Booker’s Suns advance to play the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals, the Lakers went one-and-done in the NBA Playoffs after winning the whole thing a summer ago. Even as the significantly higher-seeded team, many people picked the Lakers to not only get past the Suns, but to repeat as NBA champions. Booker was a big reason why the Suns prevented that.

As the best player on the Suns, Booker does have the supporting cast to go incredibly far this postseason. Phoenix could win the Western Conference just as easily as bowing out in round two to Denver. The Suns might need a lucky bounce or two to win it all, but anything can happen in the NBA Playoffs at this point. Parity has taken over, and the Suns have taken full advantage of it.

Booker nearly putting up a 50 burger on the Lakers in Game 6 was a great tribute to Bryant.
