Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will have Floyd Mayweather by his side as he prepares for his boxing debut.

Ahead of his summer showdown with YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley has shared details on his communication with Floyd Mayweather regarding a potential training partnership.

“They just texted me, let’s do it”, Woodley said during a media scrum on Thursday. “I just talked to him today so for sure, why would I not train with the greatest boxer of all time? He’s already my dog and we’ve been talking about training anyway, so for sure. I’m definitely going to take him up on that.”

Mayweather confirmed this during the pre-fight press conference ahead of his own fight with Logan Paul.

“Well, give me Tyron Woodley,” Mayweather said during his pre-fight press conference on Thursday. “I make sure I get in camp and train him for this fight. I want Tyron Woodley to come to Las Vegas and work with us.”

Paul brother’s are confident in their abilities despite a glaring experience-differential in both cases

Mayweather’s undefeated 50-0 record has placed him as a heavy favorite ahead of his upcoming bout, with his opponent yet to secure a victory in the world of professional boxing.

Woodley’s bout, however, has a few more variables for fans to consider. With the former champion unable to get it hand raised in his past four UFC fights, a Paul win isn’t as unfathomable as what may first appear.

In the wake of May 6 press conference encounter, it’s safe to say tensions are ripe between Mayweather and Jake. After the Youtube star snatched Mayweather’s hat, chaos ensued, with a visibly infuriated Mayweather resorting to physical violence and heated verbal onslaughts. This encounter potentially explains Mayweather’s interest in training Woodley for the bout. The always-popular Paul brother’s have found themselves face-to-face with two former world champions of their respective sports, with the first of the two fights scheduled to take place this Sunday.
