3 reasons Arch Manning should commit to Clemson
By John Buhler
Now that Arch Manning has been offered by Clemson, here are three reasons why the top quarterback in 2023 should want to play for Dabo Swinney’s Tigers.
In a surprise to absolutely no one, 2023 five-star quarterback prospect Arch Manning received an official offer from the Clemson football program after he visited the campus over the weekend.
Manning is the son of Cooper Manning, the grandson of Archie and the nephew of Eli and Peyton. The New Orleans native has deep SEC roots but if any program can get Manning to leave the SEC footprint, it would have to be Clemson.

3. Manning can forge his own identity outside of the SEC at Clemson
Even though it still sounds like utter blasphemy for a Manning to play at a non-SEC school, Clemson is a very appealing option. The Tigers recruit at an SEC level but play an ACC schedule.
Manning will have to live up to the standards of his grandpa and uncles, but he may not have to do that on fall Saturdays at Vaught-Hemingway or Neyland Stadium. Peyton ventured out on his own to play for Tennessee, despite his older brother Cooper and father Archie calling Oxford their college home. So the precedent has been set.
Admittedly, it is going to take a lot for Manning to carve out his own niche in the college football landscape when his grandfather and uncles were SEC legends. He is always going to be measured up to them, no matter where he chooses to go play. So if he wants to take a page out of Peyton’s playbook to write his own college football story at a new place, Clemson is a great option.
