Will LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Steph Curry play in the Olympics?

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Steph Curry’s Tokyo Olympics status is up in the air now.

With only eight teams left in the NBA Playoffs, a larger pool of players who could play for Team USA in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics has been expanded with guys like LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Steph Curry potentially able to go.

To date, James has represented Team USA at three Summer Olympics over the course of his illustrious career: The 2004 Athens Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. Davis has won gold with Team USA in the 2012 London Games. Despite being a two-time NBA MVP, Curry has never played for Team USA on the biggest of stages in his career.

What is the latest on if Curry, Davis or James will play for Team USA later on this summer?

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Steph Curry Tokyo Olympics status update

According to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, James and Davis are not expected to make the trek to Tokyo in late July. James said he was focused suiting up for Tune Squad instead, while Davis was too beat up to make it out of the first round for the Los Angeles Lakers. As far as the Golden State Warriors point guard, Curry is “50-50” on heading to Tokyo or not. He is 33-years-old.

We are still far from finalizing the roster but look for stars like Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics and Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers to potentially headline it. Other players who may go include Washington Wizards guards Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook, Miami Heat stars Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler and New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson.

Don’t count on Davis or James to go to Tokyo, but we should not rule out Curry going just yet.
