Alabama beats LSU for 4-star RB Le’veon Moss to add to loaded recruiting class
By John Buhler
Le’veon Moss commits to the Alabama football program to the dismay of LSU football fans.
The Alabama football team got a huge boost in recruiting department on Sunday, as the Crimson Tide gained the commitment of four-star running back Le’veon Moss.
Ed Orgeron’s LSU football program was thought to be the leader for the running back from Baton Rouge. For Nick Saban and his coaching staff to go into LSU’s front yard and take away a player who was born to be a Bayou Bengal is an incredible recruiting accomplishment. Both 247Sports staffers who made a prediction on Moss had him staying home to play his college ball for LSU.
“I’ve been talking to Coach (Nick) Saban,” said Moss to 247Sports earlier in this spring. “He’s more about your life after football than your football career. The way he talks to me makes it seem like he cares more about you being a man than just an athlete. I love their football program. They’ve been national champs five out of the last 11 years.”
Here is a look at what Moss is bringing to the Alabama backfield with his 2022 commitment.
Alabama football: Le’veon Moss picks Tide to break LSU football fans’ hearts
According to the 247Sports Composite, Moss is the No. 5 player from Louisiana, the No. 6 running back in the country and the No. 93 player nationally in the 2022 class. Moss is the seventh player to commit to Alabama in this cycle. He is the second player primarily recruited by defensive coordinator Pete Golding. Moss joins five-star running back Emmanuel Henderson in this class.
While this is a huge pickup for the Crimson Tide, Alabama has a way to go to get back towards the top of the recruiting rankings, nationally and in the SEC. Alabama has the No. 12 class nationally, which ranks No. 6 in the SEC. Time may be on the Crimson Tide’s side to bolster its recruiting class for 2022, but they are looking up at LSU and Georgia, among others.
Being able to pry Moss out of Baton Rouge cannot be stressed enough for the Alabama program.
