Everything you need to know about the Women’s College World Series finals between Oklahoma and Florida State, including the schedule and TV information.

Just a few weeks back, 64 teams all (theoretically) had a shot at playing for a national championship as the 2021 NCAA Softball Tournament got underway. Now, two teams remain and are set to play in the Women’s College World Series finals.

The Oklahoma Sooners came into the NCAA Softball Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed. Only two teams all year had found a way to give Oklahoma a loss, but they avenged both of those defeats by handling Georgia and Oklahoma State with ease later on.

The Sooners made quick work of their foes in the Regional and Super Regional rounds, advancing on to OKC without any issue. It was in Oklahoma City that the Sooners finally found a true challenge.

In Oklahoma’s first game in OKC, the James Madison Dukes seemingly came out of nowhere and gave Oklahoma a 4-3 loss. But Oklahoma bounced back and got back to winning. The Sooners steamrolled Georgia with an 8-0 win, beat UCLA 10-3, and then beat James Madison in back-to-back games, 6-3 and 7-1.

Now Oklahoma is looking for another national title. But the Florida State Seminoles happen to have championship ambitions of their own.

Like the Sooners, FSU was able to clear its Regionals or Super Regionals. The Seminoles also routinely avoided elimination throughout their time in Oklahoma City. After suffering a 4-0 loss at the beginning of the Women’s College World Series, Florida State found a way to survive and advance, beating Arizona 4-3 and the Oklahoma State 4-2.

Florida State’s game against Oklahoma State ended a little after 2 a.m. on June 6, meaning the Seminoles got little sleep before having to face Alabama for the first time.

But when FSU did meet up with the Crimson Tide, the Seminoles won 2-0, forcing another meeting between the two teams. And even with star Montana Fouts in the circle, Alabama fell short, losing 8-5 to Florida State. Now, FSU is tasked with taking on Oklahoma.

2021 Women College World Series finals schedule: Oklahoma Sooners vs. Florida State Seminoles

  • Game one: Oklahoma vs. Florida State at 6:30 p.m. CT June 8
  • Game two: Oklahoma vs. Florida State at 6 p.m. CT June 9
  • Game three (if necessary): Oklahoma vs. Florida State at 2 p.m. CT June 10

All three games will be televised on ESPN.

The finals series has plenty of potential to be thrilling, but it’ll require both teams to be playing at an equal level. If Florida State can perform against Oklahoma the way it did against Alabama, then the Seminoles may have a real shot at winning it all.

But that’s a tough thing to do. The Sooners have so much offensive firepower at the plate that they can be hard to keep up with or slow down.
