New York Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky joined fans for a post-game celebration as the team advanced to the next round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
You gotta love when sports team owners embrace their fans and enjoy the moment. New York Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky was the life of the party on Wednesday night as his team eliminated the Boston Bruins in Game 6 of the second round.
The Isles put up six goals in a blowout 6-2 victory fans won’t soon forget. Watching Ledecky celebrate with an exuberant crowd afterwards is a heartwarming reminder that sports can unite people from all walks of life.
Isles co-owner celebrates with fans
Isles fans chanted Ledecky’s name as they swarmed around the team’s co-owner in the concourse at the Nassau Coliseum.
Ledecky and his former Harvard roommate Scott Malkin purchased the Isles in 2014. The past two years have been the most exciting in recent memory for the franchise, which has not won a championship since taking home four consecutive Stanley Cups from 1980 to 1983.
Winning runs in the Ledecky family though. Jon’s niece is none other than five-time Olympic gold medallist, Katie Ledecky, who will look to add to her tally in the swimming pool this summer in Tokyo.
If the Islanders keep playing this well, Jon Ledecky could be in for a long summer of celebrating.
