Yankees broadcaster thinks Gerrit Cole will throw at Josh Donaldson (Video)
Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay strongly believes that Gerrit Cole will try and throw at Josh Donaldson when New York takes on Minnesota.
When the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins face off on Wednesday night, all eyes will be on Gerrit Cole. The stud hurler has been all over the news in recent days due to his controversial comments on using substances while pitching. People were calling him out left and right, including Josh Donaldson.
Donaldson didn’t hold back in going after Cole, bringing up the fact that his spin rate went down after multiple minor leaguers were suspended for using sticky substances. If you ask Yankees play-by-play man Michael Kay, Donaldson is basically asking for Cole to throw at him during the action.
Michael Kay believes Gerrit Cole could hit Josh Donaldson with some chin music Wednesday night
As you can see in the clip above, Kay, who isn’t advocating things whatsoever, believes that Cole is furious with what Donaldson had to say. That shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Cole has basically become a bit of a laughing stock across MLB circles over the past week.
He’s in the middle of a great season for New York, posting a 6-3 record. Despite that, Cole has a bit of a target on his back right now.
“It doesn’t make me happy,” Cole said in response to Donaldson’s comments via the Star Tribune. “I mean, I’m not thrilled about it. “I kind of thought it was a bit of low-hanging fruit, but he’s entitled to his opinion and to voice his opinion.”
For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Cole indeed ends up sending a message to Donaldson when he’s up at the plate. If he does, you can expect the benches to clear pretty dang quickly.
