White Sox 2B Nick Madrigal could need season-ending surgery on hamstring
More awful injury news has arrived for the Chicago White Sox, as Nick Madrigal has a hamstring tear and he may need season-ending surgery.
In a year filled with so much promise and excitement for the Chicago White Sox, injuries continue to bring dark clouds over this team. The latest update on second baseman Nick Madrigal has only made things worse for the AL Central powers and skipper Tony La Russa.
On Thursday, Chicago general manager Rick Hahn announced that Madrigal has suffered a hamstring tear. To make matters worse, there’s a possibility that he may need to undergo season-ending surgery.
Nick Madrigal potentially needing surgery on his hamstring is a major bummer
With Madrigal heading to the 60-day Injured List, the squad has called up outfielder Brian Goodwin to replace him on the roster. The hope is that Madrigal will be able to rest, rehab and get himself back healthy enough to play later on this year, but things aren’t looking great right now.
He went down with his injury on Wednesday night, and fans immediately began to panic. You could tell just how much pain he was in. Now, the White Sox will hope to keep their lead in the AL Central while Madrigal is sidelined. This of course isn’t the first major injury for the club, as Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert are also still out of action.
Despite that, Chicago enters Thursday’s action with a 37-24 record. The team is four games in front of the Cleveland Indians at the top of the division standings. For now, the White Sox will need to keep moving forward without several key players available. Before going down with his injury, Madrigal was hitting .317 with two homers and 32 RBI.
