M-V-P chants rain down on Jacob deGrom after 2-run single (Video)

Sportsbooks around America ought to shut down NL Cy Young futures bets while they can. Jacob deGrom is coming for the NL MVP at this rate.
deGrom had a perfect game through four innings, but gave up his first it to Will Myers. It’s his only blemish against the San Diego Padres, and should the Pads not score a run on Friday night, his ERA could decrease from the ludicrous .62 mark he entered the night with.
It turns out pitching isn’t the only thing deGrom is good at. The 32-year-old knocked Blake Snell out of the game by singling with the infield in, driving in two Mets runs and helping his own cause.
New York Mets: Is Jacob deGrom the best player in baseball?
While he missed a few weeks due to injury, it’s tough to argue any player has as big of an impact on their team than deGrom. Keep in mind: he only pitches every fifth day.
deGrom is putting up Bob Gibson numbers. He’s given up just four earned runs on the year, and driven in five. Gibson is the only pitcher to put up similar numbers in a season.
Mets fans — and baseball fans as a whole — are lucky to be able to watch deGrom at his height. Enjoy it while you can.
