Boston Red Sox Twitter was elated with their team’s latest showing, erasing a four-run deficit to beat the Toronto Blue Jays.
The motto of the 2021 Boston Red Sox could be “never say die.”
The Red Sox have made a habit of overturning deficits to the delight of their fans and the frustration of their rivals.
On Friday night, they did it again in the most impressive fashion yet.
Red Sox fans lost it when Alex Verdugo delivered their best comeback yet
The Toronto Blue Jays held a 5-1 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning. Boston chipped away at it until Alex Verdugo delivered an unlikely victory with an RBI single off the wall in the bottom of the ninth.

I love that my feed is overflowing with Alex Verdugo tweets. He deserves all the love and appreciation 🥰 #RedSox pic.twitter.com/LOesqAYmy5

No one in the MLB makes a comeback quite like Boston this year. They’re never out of it.
The Red Sox lead the majors with 23 come-from-behind wins, but this was their largest comeback of the season (trailed by 4 runs).

A huge sign that a team believes in themselves is how often they come back to snatch games. The Red Sox are CONTINUALLY coming from way back to snag wins. It’s the dead giveaway of a team with belief

What a game. I think one of my favorite things about this Red Sox team is the lead they have in comeback wins. Good teams perform even when odds are stacked against you.

Red Sox fans came into this season expecting little. What they’ve gotten is a team that is just plain fun.
This Red Sox team is so damn fun to watch

The team is capturing the imagination of their fans.
Not only is this Red Sox team good, but they genuinely respect and enjoy playing for their manager, and with each other. The energy and fight they bring to every game is something special and unmatched #Dirtywater

The buy-in is all over the franchise.
Arroyo -- 'We just believe in our entire lineup. I know it's cliché to say.'
— Bill Koch (@BillKoch25) June 12, 2021
'We're in every game.' #RedSox
Fans of other teams were less than happy about the latest win, of course.
Just forcibly log me off every time the Red Sox go down 4 and their opponent hands them a bases-loaded walk, thanks. Just take my phone and throw it in the ravine.

Someone please explain to me how the Blue Jays had 16 hits and 5 runs, yet the RedSox had 6 runs on only 8 hits but still won the game?
— Jakob Matheson (@jakobmatheson) June 12, 2021
Wait, the Blue Jays out-hit the Red Sox 16 - 8 but lost 5-6?
— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) June 12, 2021
It was a huge night for Verdugo, who had three hits, including the winning contact. Home runs from Bobby Dalbec and Christian Arroyo were also critical.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had three hits and two RBI, with a home run in the top of the sixth. Despite his performance, the Blue Jays simply couldn’t convert hits into runs.
Boston is just one game behind the Tampa Bay Rays at the top of the AL East. And they have more to look forward to. Chris Sale is making progress in his return from Tommy John surgery.
