Reason No. 2: Matt LaFleur

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t have the best ending to the 2020 season. He opted to kick a field goal instead of letting Rodgers go for the win on fourth down in the NFC championship game. The drama revolving around the organization since hasn’t made thing easier for the 41-year-old coach. His work controlling the drama and narratives surrounding his team will determine if they can hoist the Lombardi trophy or not.

LaFleur made sure to publicly say he wants Rodgers as his quarterback, a step in the right direction. If he shows unwavering support towards him, that might influence the MVP to tolerate another year of the Packers’ front office ineptitude.

Controlling the locker room is another aspect LaFleur must address. If he gets his players on the same page about how to handle the Rodgers drama, they will see that as him taking initiative. That only bodes well for the head coach, as his players will show him more respect and fall under his leadership.

Maintaining a high-quality football product is also important for LaFleur. He’ll need to work with Rodgers more (if he comes back) on schemes, checks, play calls, everything. If he can continue to flex his offensive mind, the Packers’ offense could be towards the top of the NFL once again.
