DraftKings U.S. Open Picks: $6,000 range

Wilco Nienaber ($6,900) – Nienaber has been getting some publicity for basically putting Bryson DeChambeau to shame off the tee and carrying that to a top-15 at the Palmetto Championship. Maybe he’s announcing his presence but it also might be smoke and mirrors as he’s struggled overall worldwide this year.

Jhonattan Vegas ($6,800) – If you’re looking for value in the form of long-hitters, Vegas fits that mold and, when the rest of his game is locked in, he can actually compete, which he showed at Congaree with a T2 last week. The tough part is trusting the rest of his game as it has been lackluster a bit too often, hence his low price on DraftKings.

Cameron Young ($6,800) – This could be a huge sleeper at the U.S. Open. Young won two-straight Korn Ferry Tour events at the end of May, even if he has been outside the top 50 in his last two starts. Still, he also played one round at the Torrey Pines South Course and was stellar in that showing. Perhaps he can pop up again, this time in a major.

Wyndham Clark ($6,700) – Clark has the boom needed off the tee but, like Vegas, the rest of his game can be the problem at times. Missing the cut at the Memorial and PGA Championship are concerning recent starts but, if you’re in this range, you are incurring obvious risk.

Richard Bland ($6,600) – Perhaps unfamiliar to PGA Tour faithful, Bland has been hot in Europe with a win and a top-three finish in his last two starts. While he’s never been overly consistent, he’s at a price where that could make him worthwhile if you need to dip near the bottom of the barrel.

Brendan Steele ($6,500) – Steele has only finished in the top 20 twice since mid-January, which doesn’t speak too highly of him. Yet, he’s a cut-making veteran, which might be enough for him to pay off his price at this point for the U.S. Open.

Paul Barjon ($6,300) – If you need someone dirt-cheap for your DraftKings lineup, Barjon is as low as I would go. He’s been playing quite well on the Korn Ferry Tour and should earn his PGA Tour card at the end of this year. A made cut and the Frenchman pays off this low, low price.
