Here’s the pitch where Jacob deGrom injured his shoulder (Video)
The rough news keeps coming in for New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom, as he left Wednesday’s game against the Cubs due to injury.
The season of injury woes continues to for New York Mets hurler Jacob deGrom. When healthy, the man is no doubt one of the best hurlers in the game. However, he’s battled so many injuries this year and he’s once again is facing adversity on Wednesday.
In the top of the third inning facing the Chicago Cubs at Citi Field, deGrom fired in a pitch to Eric Sogard, missing outside with a slider. However, shortly after that delivery, you can see deGrom was in clear discomfort. He’s since been pulled from the start. Unreal.
Jacob deGrom left his Wednesday start with shoulder soreness
While deGrom was able to close out the inning, he wasn’t able to get back on the bump in the top of the fourth. New York announced deGrom was removed from the game with right shoulder soreness. He was sensational in those three innings, striking out eight of the nine batters he faced.
Entering the showdown with the Cubs, deGrom was 6-2 on the year, sporting a truly unbelievable 0.56 ERA. Those stats are simply unheard of. As things stand, though, it’s completely up in the air if the hard-throwing righty will be able to make his next start, or if a trip to the Injured List is on the horizon.
With the Mets currently 34-25 on the year and in first place of the NL East standings, the club has dreams of making it to the World Series. In order for that to potentially happen, they’ll need deGrom pitching his best, and 100 percent healthy. Stay tuned for new updates on the star pitcher, but once again, folks are quite worried in Flushing.
