Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Anderson Silva: How to watch the card
By Mike Straus
How to watch Anderson Silva’s return to boxing.
Two legends will enter the ring for a 10-round boxing match on June 19 at Jalisco Stadium in Jalisco, Mexico, when former middleweight boxing world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. faces UFC legend Anderson Silva.
The bout will be contended at 180 pounds. This will mark the third time in Silva‘s career that he has laced the boxing gloves up. However, this will be Silva’s first professional boxing match in 16 years. The last time the Brazilian entered a boxing ring, he knocked out Julio Cesar de Jesus in August 2005.
Silva is widely considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. He dominated the UFC middleweight division, going unbeaten for over four years. But Silva’s UFC run would come to an end in October 2020 after a knockout loss to Uriah Hall. However, at 45 years old, it appears that Silva still has a desire to compete.
“When I look back at my journey, I see that nothing has been in vain,” Silva said via a press release. “I am extremely happy for the opportunity to test my boxing skills with Julio César Chávez Jr. I train continuously, always am striving for resilience and to overcome obstacles. Fighting is my everlasting breath.”
As for Chavez Jr., he is fresh off a fourth-round TKO win over Jeyson Minda last November.
Also, on the card, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. will face Hector Camacho Jr.
