Arsenal want prolific Portugal star to replace Alexandre Lacazette
Mikel Arteta could not find the right attacking mix at Arsenal last season. That’s why he wants to swap Alexandre Lacazette for Andre Silva this summer.
Alexandre Lacazette’s run out of chances to convince Mikel Arteta that he’s the right man to lead Arsenal’s front line. The Frenchman looks to be headed on his way out of North London this summer. That opens up a big opportunity for the Gunners to recruit a new starting No. 9.
The primary object of the club’s affections at the moment is Portgual hitman Andre Silva. The Eintracht Frankfurt star lit up the Bundesliga for 28 goals in just 32 appearances last season. Arsenal see him as the ideal centre forward to help take pressure off of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang next year.
According to Duncan Castles, the German club are seeking a bid of £34.5 million for their prolific striker. The challenge for Arsenal will be convincing Silva to move to North London without the promise of European football next season. Convincing the player to accept the move may be more difficult for the Gunners than satisfying the club’s demands.
Silva is a great fit for Arsenal
Frankfurt’s asking price is fair given Silva’s production last season and the fact that he’s just coming into his prime at 25 years of age. Perhaps more importantly for Arsenal, he’s a great fit for the way Arteta wants his team to play.
Silva is a classic striker that wants to torment the opposition with his size in the penalty box. Occupying opposing centre backs is key for an Arsenal side that’s desperate to create more space for Aubameyang on the wing. It’s easy to envision a fruitful partnership developing between the two talented goal scorers.
Arsenal fans should keep a close eye on Silva to see if a deal can develop quickly. The longer this transfer saga drags on the worse it will end up for the Gunners. Silva is going to attract a lot of transfer interest this summer. Arteta and his staff need to move quickly if they want to win his signature.
