Few things are as exciting as a win-or-go-home game in the NBA Playoffs, especially with a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals on the line. That’s exactly the situation we find ourselves in tonight, as the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets clash in a Game 7 that will have plenty of ripple effects after the final buzzer sounds.

For the Bucks, a Game 7 win would give Mike Budenholzer a stay of execution. The Bucks head coach’s seat is scorching hot, and has been ever since Milwaukee’s exit from the playoffs last season. After blowing leads in individual games in this series against the Nets, the Bucks are in danger of blowing the series itself despite having a 3-2 lead.

Brooklyn can’t afford to let Game 7 slip away from them either. After trading for James Harden and assembling a super team, anything less than an NBA Finals victory will be unacceptable. Anything less than a trip to the NBA Finals will be viewed as a colossal and unforgivable failure. Kevin Durant managed to carry the Nets through Game 6, and now he’ll try to do it again. The narrative of Durant carrying a team without a full-strength Harden and without Kyrie Irving would be extreme validation for a player who carries the stigma that he can’t win without superstar help beside him.
