Javier Baez reminded us why he’s one of the best shortstops in the game, as he made an insane diving play against the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.

Another day, another incredible play from Chicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez? That’s exactly the case, as ‘El Mago’ continues to impress MLB fans all over the country. This time, the Miami Marlins are his latest victim.

In the top of the second inning, Jon Berti was at the dish looking to make something happen for his club. He smashed what everyone thought was going to be a single to left field. Baez had other ideas, though.

Javier Baez robbed Jon Berti of a base knock with an incredible defensive play

That might be one of the best plays of the season. Baez, who is a beast at the plate as well, dove full extension to get to that ball and then didn’t hesitate in firing a laser to second base to record an amazing out.

The way Baez is able to make these kinds of plays on a regular basis is unreal. His reaction to making this happen too would make you believe this was a routine play for him. We shouldn’t be surprised to see the infielder create this kind of magic, as we’ve certainly grown used to seeing it over the years. Cubs fans love every minute of Baez in action.

He’s currently hitting .230, with 16 homers and 44 RBI, with countless standout plays on defense as well. The Cubs are also in the middle of an epic NL Central race with the Milwaukee Brewers, with the two teams entering Sunday tied for first place with their 39-32 records. Baez will be ready to do whatever it takes to try and help his side win the division.

Next. 2 trades Cubs shouldn’t wait until deadline to make. dark
