The Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers face off in Game 1 of their series to see who represents the Western Conference in the NBA Finals.

The Suns have had time to rest up, and they needed it. Chris Paul remains in COVID-19 protocol, and is out for Game 1. He hopes to return sometime early this series.

Without Paul, the Suns will rely even more heavily on the likes of Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton, two young stars capable to leading this Phoenix team when at their best.

The absence of Paul is notable, though. He made the All-NBA rosters for a reason.

For the Clippers, they’ll also be shorthanded. Kawhi Leonard (achilles) is out for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Without Kawhi, Paul George and the Clip Show were able to win two straight games and avoid a Game 7 in Utah. As Marcus Morris said, no one wanted to go back to Salt Lake City.

PG13 proved himself more than capable of leading this Clippers team when he’s on, and he had plenty of help from his supporting cast, including Reggie Jackson, who’s emerged as a solid No. 2 when necessary.
