John Collins hilariously owned Joel Embiid at the Game 7 podium with his incredibly petty shirt.

With the Atlanta Hawks advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals, power forward John Collins decided he needed to wear a shirt trolling Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid at the Game 7 podium.

Atlanta won Game 7 in Philadelphia on Sunday night, 103-96. While Embiid had 31 points and 11 rebounds in his double-double, Collins’ 16 rebounds and 14 points proved crucial in the Hawks’ shocking series-clinching victory. Embiid had been fantastic throughout the series, but an injured knee and an inconsistent supporting cast contributed to the 76ers’ downfall in this best-of-seven.

All the while, Collins dunked on Embiid in the postgame press conference by way of his shirt.

The 2020-21 Hawks did not have an All-Star, an All-NBA player, an All-Defensive player or an All-Rookie. They fired their head coach midseason and have rolled with Nate McMillan in the interim for the last few months now. This team has not only won its division, but has gotten back to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time since 2015. They can definitely win the NBA Finals.

We all know that Collins was going to pull this shirt out had his team done the improbable and advanced to the conference finals. You better believe just having it in the visiting locker room at Wells Fargo Center served as a little bit of extra motivation for him, and possibly his teammates. Though Embiid had a great series in his own right, Collins and his Hawks teammates moved on.

Atlanta will face former head coach Mike Budenholzer’s Milwaukee Bucks in the conference finals.
