Blue Jays activate George Springer and fire him into middle of lineup
George Springer has been out of action since early May, but he’s all set to be back in the lineup on Tuesday night for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The long wait is finally over for Toronto Blue Jays fans. Since May 2, big-time free agent signing George Springer has been out of the lineup due to a serious quad injury. Not having him suit up for the club has been a major bummer for the team’s supporters.
Well, good news has arrived. Not only has Springer been activated off the Injured List, but the team has wasted no time in plugging him back into things, as he’ll bat fifth tonight going up against the Miami Marlins.
George Springer back in the lineup has Blue Jays fans fired up
This winter, Spring signed a massive six-year, $150 million contract with Toronto. He was a superstar for the Houston Astros for years, but then made the tough choice to leave town to join the AL East.
The start of his career in Toronto of course hasn’t gone to plan, as he’s only been able to appear in four games for the team in 2021. It’s been quite frustrating for him, as he was hoping to make plenty of noise with the Blue Jays to start his new chapter.
He’s had to face plenty of adversity, but he’ll look to remind folks of how dangerous he can be at the plate now that he’s back fully healthy. Last season with the Astros, he hit .265, with 14 homers and 32 RBI during the shortened campaign. He was a three-time All-Star with Houston, helping them win the World Series back in 2017.
Springer has been chomping at the bit ready to get back in action for the Blue Jays, and we’ll now get the chance to see what he’s made of going up against Miami on Tuesday evening.
