The Milwaukee Bucks sent out a statement to the ESPN First Take crew after they badmouthed the city.
The city of Milwaukee has plenty to be excited about, as the Milwaukee Bucks are one round away from reaching the NBA Finals. However, one spots media show is not too thrilled about the idea of having to travel to the city if the Bucks defeat the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
On the Tuesday edition of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith was asked by NFL analyst Damien Woody if he would want to travel to Milwaukee for the NBA Finals if the Bucks win the Eastern Conference Finals, to which he replied, “Hell no.” Moderator Molly Qerim Rose jumped in the conversation to say the NBA Finals will be in “terrible cities,” and that they have no idea if the show will be traveling for the series. You can check the full context of the conversation in the video below.
Ahead of Game 1 on Wednesday, Bucks president Peter Feigen released a statement addressing the comments made by the First Take crew by talking up the city and its destinations while even offering to give them a tour. Bucks president Peter Feigen addresses the First Take crew’s comments about Milwaukee
Milwaukee took the classy approach in handling this situation, by defending the city while offering to show the on-air personalities around.
This NBA Finals is slated to feature some new faces, since the Golden State Warriors missed out on the playoffs and LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round. On the Western Conference side of things, the Phoenix Suns currently hold a 2-0 series lead over the LA Clippers. Then, there is the Bucks and Hawks in the East, who both have not reached the Finals in decades.
If the Bucks are to reach the Finals for the first time since 1974, they will be welcoming the First Take crew with open arms.
