The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Stanford Cardinal are on the brink of elimination in the 2021 College World Series.
Wednesday evening, another team is set to be sent home from the 2021 College World Series. The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Stanford Cardinal will face each other in an elimination game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Both the Cardinal and the Commodores ended up in the elimination bracket after falling victim to a red-hot NC State Wolfpack team.
Stanford fell first to NC State, losing in its first game in Omaha. The Cardinal was absolutely blown out by North Carolina State, losing 10-4. But, Stanford bounced back and in dominant fashion, eliminated Arizona by beating the Wildcats 14-5.
The Commodores started their run in Omaha with a 7-6 win in 12 innings over the aforementioned Arizona Wildcats. But after that win, the Commodores dropped a 1-0 pitchers duel against NC State.
Now, with their seasons on the line, Stanford and Vanderbilt will face each other. Here’s what you need to watch the Commodores and the Cardinal.

Vanderbilt and Stanford both arrived in Omaha with hopes of winning a national championship. The Commodores made it to the College World Series looking to defend their 2019 title. But both of these teams face uphill battles when it comes to competing in the championship series this season.
The loser of this game obviously goes home as their season will be complete, but things could get pretty rough for the winner.
The winner of this game will then get the pleasure of facing off against the NC State Wolfpack again. Unfortunately for the winner between Vandy and Stanford, they’ll have to beat the Wolfpack twice if they want to play for a championship.
NC State is currently on a tear and is difficult to beat. Add in the fact that the Wolfpack got a nice extra day of rest and that makes things even more difficult for whoever comes out on top between the Cardinal and the Commodores.
