2. Take a swing in free agency

There’s room for internal improvement on the Memphis Grizzlies roster next season, but taking a swing in free agency would boost their chances of a deep playoff run.

DeMar DeRozan should be a top target, and the San Antonio Spurs star is an unrestricted free agent this summer. DeRozan would provide the Grizzlies with a proven go-to scorer and veteran leadership. Plus, DeRozan would be reunited with one of his favorite former teammates in Jonas Valanciunas. The question will be whether he wants to make the most money or set himself up for a title run, but apparently, DeRozan has said he’s taking a “wide open” approach to free agency.

Two other possible targets are Lonzo Ball or Duncan Robinson. Both are restricted free agents but would fit in nicely with Memphis’ dynamic young core. Either would add shooting with some height in the backcourt. Robinson in particular is a strong outside shooter with a career average of 42.3 percent from distance, making him an excellent drive-and-kick target for Ja Morant. The Grizzlies would just have to decide how much either Ball or Robinson is worth to them, as our guess is the New Orleans Pelicans and Miami Heat, respectively, will be keen to bring them back.
