The Phoenix Suns FaceTimed Chris Paul after their stunning Game 2 win over the Clippers.

What happened in Phoenix on Tuesday night wasn’t a mirage. The Suns turned an inbound pass with just 0.9 seconds left into one of the most insane finishes to a game we’ve ever seen.

Deandre Ayton slamming home an inbound pass from Jae Crowder will go down as the stuff of Suns lore, regardless of whether or not this dream season ends with an NBA title coming to Phoenix for the first time in franchise history.

Part of what has made the Suns playoff run so much fun to watch is the cast of characters we’ve grown to love along the way. Devin Booker is having a true superstar turn in the playoffs, but one of the men most responsible for crafting this Championship-caliber team wasn’t on the floor Tuesday.

Chris Paul remains out due to due to COVID-19 protocols, but that hasn’t stopped the veteran from being present and in the moment over the first two games.

Just because CP3 wasn’t able to be with his teammates in person didn’t mean he wasn’t able to be there to celebrate the stunning win.

NBA TV cameras caught Suns players FaceTiming Paul as they huddled up after the game.

Paul has been instrumental in being the missing veteran piece on the Suns young roster of talent. We watched Booker carry the Suns through the NBA Bubble last year, falling just short of making the playoffs. Adding Paul in the offseason proved to be a move that not only matured the locker room but evolved the roster to another form of being — one so powerful that it has run roughshod through the NBA Playoffs.

Phoenix sweeping its way to the NBA Finals seems a little too Hollywood to actually happen, but they’d need to pull off such a feat in Los Angeles. The way the Suns have been playing, and the way Paul has prepared them all season, a storybook ending is very much on the table.
