The Nationals trolled the hell out of Ben Simmons on Twitter
The Washington Nationals’ social media team had the perfect joke after their team hit a game-tying three-run homer against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has had a rough few days. He disappeared in the playoffs, failing to provide anything scoring-wise for his team. His shooting struggles were magnified in their second-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, where he and the Sixers lost in seven games.
Since the series ended, social media hasn’t let up on the LSU product.
Countless jokes and memes have been posted about Simmons and the offensive shortcomings he’s had in his career. It looks like those jokes span across major sports leagues now, as the Washington Nationals served up the perfect troll of the Sixers point-forward on their Twitter account.
Washington Nationals troll Ben Simmons with a hilarious Twitter post
Washington was playing against the Philadelphia Phillies, and they were down by three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Their left fielder, Kyle Schwarber, proceeded to hit a three-run homer, tying the game at five. Whoever runs the team’s social media account thought it’d be a good time to take a jab at the Sixers’ struggling star.
“Game-tying 3 pointers in Philly this year: Ben Simmons: 0 Kyle Schwarber: 1,” the Nationals’
Twitter account posted with a highlight of Schawarber’s home run.
The shot at Simmons was probably a method of revenge on the part of the Nationals. The Sixers defeated the Washington Wizards in the first round of the NBA playoffs 4-1. Nevertheless, the social media team of the Nationals executed a hilarious troll of a rivals city’s star athlete — job well done.
