Ben Simmons agent, Rich Paul, sat down with the Philadelphia 76ers to discuss his client’s future with the team.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be in the news cycle for quite some time now, thanks to Ben Simmons. Their point-forward vanished offensively against the Atlanta Hawks in the second round, eventually losing to them in seven games. Simmons’ offensive woes have raised questions about his future in Philly.

It looks like his agent has something to say about that.

Rich Paul, who represents Simmons under his Klutch Sports Agency, is already trying to figure out how his client and the Sixers can find a peaceful resolution to their issues.

Rich Paul meets with Philadelphia 76ers to discuss Ben Simmons’ future.

The Sixers have a predicament on their hands with Ben Simmons. His offensive struggles compromise his game and the team’s roster so much; it would be smart to trade him for better pieces. However, he is a unique talent, standing at 6-foot-10, and can dribble, pass, and can use his athleticism to his advantage. His agent, Rich Paul, is doing his best to sort things out for his superstar client.

Paul met with Sixers management this week to discuss Simmons’ future with the team, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Because of his underwhelming playoff performance, the trade value for Simmons has dropped considerably.  Philly has used the pre-draft combine to gauge the market value for their start point forward and see what potential suitors could offer in trade packages, according to Woj.

During the meeting, Paul inquired whether it makes sense for his client and the Sixers to work together on a trade. Despite that, Paul nor Simmons requested a trade as a result of that conversation. Both sides will continue to talk about potential scenarios ahead of the draft and free agency in July.

According to Woj, the Sixers are committed to keeping Simmons as “a central piece of their franchise.” Maybe the meeting with Paul is the first step in mending this strained relationship between his client and the team, or it could be the start of an ugly divorce.
