College World Series delay: NC State vs. Vanderbilt updated start time, TV info, stream
By Ethan Lee
NC State vs. Vanderbilt baseball is the College World Series game tonight. Kumar Rocker gets the start for Vandy while NC State deals with COVID issues.
The Vanderbilt Commodores have a shot at competing for another College World Series championship. The only problem for Vandy is that they have to get through the NC State Wolfpack, a team that has already beaten the Commodores.
Vanderbilt was sent into the elimination bracket by the Wolfpack on Monday when NC State beat the Commodores in a 1-0 pitchers duel. Vandy is now looking for revenge with top MLB Draft prospect Kumar Rocker on the mound. Meanwhile, NC State is trying to lock up its appearance in the College World Series finals while dealing with some COVID-19 issues.
CWS delay due to NC State facing COVID issues
According to a report from Joe Giglio, some NC State players are in COVID-19 protocols and at least one player has tested positive for COVID-19.
UPDATE: NC State vs. Vanderbilt will resume at 2:07 p.m. CT
UPDATE: Several NC State players are out, including their 2B and All-ACC closer
The Wolfpack just needs one win here while Vanderbilt needs to get a win tonight and then a win on Saturday. That would certainly impact NC State’s chances to keep winning if they are without some regular contributors and are short vs. a talented team with one of the nation’s top pitchers on the mound.
Here’s everything you could need to keep up with the Commodores and Wolfpack in the 2021 College World Series.
NC State vs. Vanderbilt baseball: Updated start time for College World Series

While this is a must-win game for Tim Corbin the Vanderbilt Commodores, NC State has a little bit of wiggle room. The Wolfpack earned that wiggle room by making it into the winner’s bracket and jumping out to a 2-0 start in the College World Series.
Technically, NC State has two chances to get a win. The Wolfpack could lose today and still have a very real shot at getting to the finals.
Should the Commodores fall on Friday afternoon, then their season will be done. If they get a win, they’ll stay alive, but will have to beat the Wolfpack a second time. Given how hot NC State has been this postseason since beating Arkansas, that’s not an easy thing to do.
