What 4-star quarterback Eli Holstein said about committing to Texas A&M

The Texas A&M football program lands the four-star commitment of quarterback Eli Holstein.
Jimbo Fisher continues to bring top-tier quarterbacks into his Texas A&M football program, as 2023 four-star recruit Eli Holstein committed to the Aggies on Friday. Holstein released a statement of his commitment via Twitter.

Holstein is the second commitment for the Aggies Class of 2023, joining four-star defensive lineman Anthony James, which ranks No. 2 nationally behind Georgia.
“Coach Fisher and coach [Darrell] Dickey have both told me I am the top QB on their board and they are coming at me 3,000 percent and want me really, really bad,” said Holstein to 247Sports after attending a camp in College Station earlier this summer.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Holstein is the No. 7 quarterback in his class, the No. 7 overall prospect from Louisiana and the No. 123 player nationally. At 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds, Holstein will join a quarterback room in two years that will feature 2022 five-star signal-caller Connor Weigman out of Cypress, Texas. Holstein is very excited about playing for Texas A&M.

There are a few things we can glean from Holstein’s commitment to the Aggies on Friday. One, he is not afraid of a little competition to begin his college career with Weigman committed in the recruiting class prior.
Two, Holstein not committing in-state means LSU has to be very high on 2022 commit Walker Howard. Three, Arch Manning is not going to play for Texas A&M, not that they had much of a chance to begin with.
While Manning may stay in-state and challenge Howard in Baton Rouge, there is next to no chance he will go to College Station to compete for playing time with Weigman and Holstein in the fold. Going to play for Fisher and the Aggies will probably bring out the best in Holstein, but by him committing there, it signifies that America’s football royal family will not feature an Aggie in it.
Texas A&M continues to recruit blue-chip quarterback prospects at an elite level under Fisher.
