Gervonta Davis vs. Mario Barrios live results and highlights
Gervonta Davis moves up to super lightweight to challenge fellow undefeated boxer Mario Barrios on Showtime pay-per-view. Here are the results.
Gervonta Davis is the reigning WBA super featherweight and WBA “regular lightweight” champion. On June 26, he moves up to super lightweight to challenge undefeated WBA “regular” champion Mario Barrios as the main event on Showtime pay-per-view.
Davis vs. Barrios takes place at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, and features four televised bouts. Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) and Barrios (26-0, 17 KOs) are undefeated, but that changes this night.
Davis flattened Leo Santa Cruz in his last outing in October of 2020. His uppercut knocked Santa Crus out in phenomenal fashion. At 26 years old, Davis is one of boxing’s best young fighters and has never faced adversity in the ring.
Barrios knocked out Ryan Karl in his last bout but struggled with Batyr Akhmedov before that. Barrios got the unanimous decision over Akhmedov to win the WBA “regular” super lightweight title, but it was close.
Also featured on the Davis vs. Barrios card is a super welterweight contest between Erickson Lubin and former unified champion Jeison Rosario. Rosario is known for his power but dropped his titles in a knockout loss to Jermell Charlo in September. Lubin is riding a five-fight winning streak and hopes to enter the title picture with a win.
Other fights on the pay-per-view card include super lightweights Batyr Akhmedov vs. Algenis Mendez and super welterweights Carlos Adames vs. Alexis Salazar.
