The Orlando Magic could end up hiring Penny Hardaway to be their new head coach
If this hire were to go down, it really would be something special. Again, Hardaway was beloved by everyone in Orlando during his playing days. Following his hoops career, he made the smooth transition to coach and has since made his way to the Memphis Tigers, his alma mater.
Hardaway has done outstanding work while with Memphis, highlighted by his superior recruiting skills. Now, he may be ready to make the lead to the NBA, should the Magic give him that opportunity.
Hardaway spent the first six years of his career with Orlando, making the All-Star team four times. He averaged 19 points per night while suiting up for the Magic. He then of course went on to play for the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Miami Heat. He enjoyed a long NBA career, and it looks like he may be getting ready to start the next chapter of his pro days, this time from the bench.
