Patrick Wisdom silences American Family Field with behemoth game-tying homer (Video)
By Mark Powell
Chicago Cubs slugger Patrick Wisdom hit a baseball further than most at American Family Park. The roof barely kept its lid.
Monday’s Cubs-Brewers matchup was rather monumental for the Cubs — as much as it can be at midseason — with Chicago falling behind in the NL Central by three games over the weekend. A couple wins at American Family Park would go a long way in their division chase, and in deciding their trade deadline plans.
Should the Cubs fall too far behind the Brewers by late July, you can expect them to field trade offers for the likes of Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez and Willson Contreras.
Notably not mentioned is Patrick Wisdom, who is an exceptional storyline in his own right. At 29 years old, he’s reaching his baseball peak at the right time.
Chicago Cubs: Patrick Wisdom could be the real deal
Wisdom’s storyline was due for a crashing end at some point, or so we thought. His slash line suggests otherwise. At .284/.343/.716 heading into the weekend, Wisdom has cooled off some since his absurd start, but there’s no reason he can’t find a regular place on this roster if given the opportunity.
