NBA rumors: Warriors might trade James Wiseman, No. 7 pick for Pascal Siakam
By John Buhler
The Golden State Warriors could trade James Wiseman and the No. 7 overall pick to the Toronto Raptors for former All-Star Pascal Siakam.
Needing to make the NBA Playoffs after a two-year postseason absence, the Golden State Warriors are looking to trade center James Wiseman and the No. 7 overall pick this summer, possibly to the Toronto Raptors for All-Star wing Pascal Siakam.
John Hollinger of The Athletic touches on this potential trade between these two non-playoff teams from a season ago. Interestingly enough, these two teams faced off in the 2019 NBA Finals with Toronto winning its first-ever league championship. That feels like a lifetime ago. Siakam just had offseason shoulder surgery, but he could be the upgrade Golden State has been looking for.
Should the Warriors consider trading Wiseman and the No. 7 overall pick in exchange for Siakam?

It is still early, but the Warriors look to have ended up with the worst of the top-three picks from the 2021 NBA Draft. Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball have been way more impactful for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Charlotte Hornets than Wiseman was in his first year out of Memphis. Golden State may part ways with him, along with the No. 7 pick by way of Minnesota.
What this trade would signify is Toronto going for a complete teardown and an inevitable rebuild. Point guard Kyle Lowry will not be coming back in his free agency, and the Raptors will be a bottom-eight team in the league next year. As for Golden State, adding Siakam out on the wing could make the Warriors a much more balanced team in the Western Conference next season.
Let’s keep an eye on this potential deal, as it could be exactly what both teams are looking for.
