Whatever happened to these 30 forgotten college football superstars?

7. Andy Katzenmoyer, linebacker, Ohio State
Suppose there was any player who fits where they went to school, former Ohio State linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer. In the era of power running and physical defense in the Big Ten of the 1990s, “The Big Kat” exemplified Ohio State football under then-head coach John Cooper.
Unfortunately for Katzenmoyer, a neck injury would limit his NFL career to just two seasons with the Patriots. Ironically, Katzenmoyer was the ideal player for Patriots head coach Bill Belichick as well. After neck surgery caused Katzenmoyer to miss the second half of the 2000 season, he was again placed on injured reserve in 2001 and released by New England in 2002.
That does not diminish Katzemoyer’s many accomplishments in his Ohio State career. After being named Ohio Mr. Football while starring for Westerville High School. Katzenmoyer became the first true freshman to start at middle linebacker for the Buckeyes. That was not the only first for Katzemoyer.
Katzemoyer showed up big on the national stage as a freshman collecting three sacks in the Rose Bowl that season. He would become the first Buckeye to win the Butkus Award and was a three-time All-Big Ten first-team selection. Katzemoyer won the Lambert Award and was also a consensus All-American in 1997.
