Whatever happened to these 30 forgotten college football superstars?

24. Kevin Jones, running back, Virginia Tech
Kevin Jones’s professional career could not have gotten off to a better start. After the Lions drafted Jones in the first round of the 2004 NFL draft, the Virginia Tech standout joined Billy Sims and Barry Sanders as the only Lions’ running backs to rush for 1,000 yards their rookie seasons.
Injuries caused Jones to miss time in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Injuries ended his 2006 and 2007 seasons. Kevin Jones was a running back who relied on explosion, and lower body injuries robbed him of that attribute. Jones spent 2008 with the Bears and was cut in March after an ankle injury limited his play that season.
Despite a short, injury-plagued professional career, no one cannot deny Jones’s place in Virginia Tech football history. Jones is the highest-rated recruit in Hokies’ history. As a high school senior, Jones was the first US Army Hall Trophy winner and was the first high school senior to use props when announcing his collegiate choice.
Jones did not disappoint during his time in Blacksburg. Though the Hokies were a national power by the time Jones got there, his recruitment proved as such. Jones was second all-time in rushing yards (3,475) and touchdowns (35) in Virginia Tech history.
