Did Devin Booker snub Patrick Beverley of pregame handshake?
By Mark Powell
Patrick Beverley tried to shake Devin Booker’s hand pregame, but he would not oblige the Clippers guard before Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals.
Beverley is one of the more controversial guards in the modern NBA. He’s not very likable, unless you’re a Los Angeles Clippers fan. Pat Bev frequently sticks his face where he shouldn’t, perhaps rubbing a few star backcourt players the wrong way.
Booker and Beverley have had a few of those moments with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. While Booker is the stoic type, and isn’t likely to cause much drama on the floor, that doesn’t mean he’s going to play nice.
NBA Playoffs: Did Devin Booker snub Patrick Beverley of pregame handshake?
Booker doesn’t make eye contact with Beverley, and there’s a good chance he’s trying to get in the zone before a big game. But if there were any player the Kentucky product has the right to snub, it’s a guard like Beverley, who is always trying to stir things up and get in his head.
Rather than giving Pat Bev the benefit of the doubt with a pregame hand shake, Booker is in full go mode. Beverley is already guilty of a flagrant-1 against Chris Paul earlier in the series. Who’s to say Booker isn’t next?
Either way, he’s not about to play nice when trying to eliminate an opponent. He’s got one eye on the Finals.
