2 impact free agents the Packers can still sign before training camp

1. Packers free agent needs: Sign former 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman
If the NFC Championship Game showed us anything, it is that the cornerback position in Green Bay is in need of some serious help. Even though Kevin King was torched consistently by Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, the team brought him back on a one-year contract. Additionally, they used their 2021 first-round selection on Georgia corner Eric Stokes, but it is not exactly ideal to throw a rookie cornerback into the starting lineup right away.
The Packers need to shore up their secondary if they want to have a chance of competing for the Lombardi Trophy next February. Luckily for them, Richard Sherman is still available.
Sherman is coming off a season where he was limited to just five games with the 49ers due to injuries. But, his track record speaks for itself. He is a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro cornerback in 10 year career.
In his last full regular-season with the 49ers, where the team reached Super Bowl 54, Sherman tallied 61 total tackles, 11 defended passes and three interceptions. In coverage, Sherman allowed 43 receptions for 368 yards and one touchdown on 69 targets, per Pro Football Reference.
Sure, Sherman did have an injury-shortened 2020 season, but he can be quite the difference maker if he is 100-percent. Plus, he would give Green Bay a dominant cornerback duo alongside Jaire Alexander. If the Packers want to prevent a repeat of what happened in that fateful playoff game against the Buccaneers, they need to negotiate a deal with Sherman.
