4-star cornerback Terrance Brooks announces commitment to Ohio State
Four-star cornerback Terrance Brooks, a top-100 prospect, committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes over Texas and other major programs.
The Ohio State Buckeyes keep pulling talent out of Texas for the class of 2022.
On Wednesday, four-star cornerback Terrance Brooks became the latest prospect from the Lone Star State to make a pledge to Ryan Day and company.
Brooks, who is the son of former Texas A&M and 49ers safety Chet Brooks, dropped a video on Twitter to make the announcement:
Brooks has been busy making official visits this summer. He dropped in on Oregon, Florida, Texas and Alabama, but Ohio State clearly made the biggest impression when he visited just a week after picking up an offer.
Terrance Brooks is Ohio State’s latest commit in an impressive cornerback haul
The 247Sports composite ranks Brooks No. 58 nationally and No. 8 at cornerback. Gabe Brooks credited him with “elite length with an enormous wingspan.” Despite being listed at 5-foot-11, the young corner reportedly has an 80-inch wingspan.
The Buckeyes will be eager to put that wingspan to work for them in their defensive backfield.
Ohio State has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country and they don’t seem to be slowing down. Brooks is the seventh top-100 prospect committed to their class of 2022. Five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and five-star wide receiver Caleb Burton are also from the state of Texas.
The cornerback class is particularly impressive with Brooks in the mix. The Buckeyes already had five-star Jaheim Singletary committed along with four-star Jyaire Brown and three-star Ryan Turner.
This is another feather in the cap of Ohio State defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs. A defensive backs coach by trade, he has done an exceptional job recruiting his position since returning to the Buckeyes last year.
