In some more awful injury news for the Chicago White Sox, Yoan Moncada injured himself sliding head-first into third base.

Can the Chicago White Sox go a week without a player getting injured? Unfortunately, it feels like they just can’t catch a break out on the injury front and things got even worse for the AL Central powerhouse on Thursday.

Early on in a showdown with the Minnesota Twins, third baseman Yoan Moncada tried making his way to third base, sliding head-first to try and get the job done. Well, things didn’t go according to plan and he rolled up awkwardly, suffering a bruised right hand and being removed from the action.

Yoan Moncada suffering an injury is the last thing the White Sox need right now

You’ve got to love Moncada’s hustle and desire to make something happen for this club, but this is just typical unlucky news for Chicago. Seriously, having Luis Robert, Eloy Jimenez and Nick Madrigal suffer their serious injuries was one thing, but now fans are going to have to spend the rest of the day worrying about Moncada too?

On the year, the corner infielder is hitting .274, with five home runs and 35 RBI. Despite all of the injuries the White Sox have suffered, they’re in the middle of a truly spectacular season. Entering the Thursday tilt with Minnesota, Chicago is in first place of the AL Central with its 47-32 record. The club is four games ahead of the Cleveland Indians.

The rest of the way, Chicago will be ready to try and fend off Terry Francona’s men. With that said, all these injuries really are starting to pile up for the team. The White Sox must get healthy, and fast, if they want to win the division this season.
