Bryce Harper’s second-deck homer is a stunner (Video)

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper smacked a home run into the second deck at Citizens Bank Park against the San Diego Padres.

Bryce Harper is a fan of the second deck in right field at Citizens Bank Park. Just a couple of days after blasting a home run into the upper level, he’s done it again.

This one came on Saturday against the Padres, flying 406 feet to put the Phillies on the board in the second inning.

No muss, no fuss, just a high-flying moonshot.

With a speed of 113.5 mph coming off Harper’s bat, that homer was the hardest Padres pitcher Yu Darvish has given up since that state was tracked in 2015.

Harper enjoys facing Darvish, aparently.

Bryce Harper powered a 406-foot home run into the second deck

Darvish got burned again one batter later when Rhys Hoskins took the first pitch of his at-bat deep into left. The second home run of the inning tied things up at 2-2.

Harper hit two home runs on Wednesday against the Marlins, though Philadelphia couldn’t turn that power-fest into a victory.

The Phillies took the first game in the series against the Padres 4-3 in extra innings on Friday. Harper went 0-for-4 but drove in a run on a ground out in the first inning.

The former MVP is batting .270/.379/.502 this season with 14 home runs. Six of those home runs have come in the last two weeks across just 11 games. Incredibly all of his homers this season have been solos.

Philadelphia is still struggling to make a dent in the NL East. They’re 4.5 games behind the Mets and in fourth place in the division. Maybe if they turned some of Harper’s solo shots into multi-run homers they’d be capable of more of a challenge.
