Surprise sides Denmark and the Czech Republic do battle on Saturday in Baku in the quarterfinals at Euro 2020. Here’s what you need to know before tuning in. 

Denmark, the side most neutrals are rooting for at these Euros, and the Czech Republic meet on Saturday in Baku in the quarterfinals.

The Danes are the sentimental favorite of many after their star player Christen Eriksen had a health scare on the field against Finland in their first game at these Euros. Denmark, riding a wave of emotion, got out of the group and defeated Wales in the Round of 16 to get where they are.

The Czech Republic, meanwhile, stunned the Netherlands in the Round of 16 after striker Patrik Schick burst onto the scene as one of the best players at this tournament with four goals.

“We worked hard to succeed,” Schick told reporters after stunning the Dutch. “We’re not as great players as they are, but team spirit might perhaps be of greater importance in today’s soccer.”

Team spirit is a big theme among the Danes. They have been on an emotional rollercoaster since these Euros started. They remain united and focused on winning for Eriksen, who continues to recover.
