It’s not an event that counts for anything more than pride, but a quick look at the four golfers involved and you’ll see that pride is as valuable as any trophy that could be won.
If this format seems familiar, it’s because this is the fourth incarnation of The Match. Originally it was Mickelson and Brady facing off against Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning in an epic crossover of rivalries.
To its credit, the event is light empty-calorie fun that both entertains and serves a purpose for charity. This particular event will be a perfect appetizer for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, which will be played almost immediately after the conclusion of The Match 4, albeit on ABC and not the Turner networks.
