Fox Sports personality Shannon Sharpe got dragged on Twitter for criticizing Giannis Antetokounmpo playing limited minutes in the NBA Finals.

Undisputed on Fox Sports 1 isn’t known for producing nuanced takes on sports, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to see co-host Shannon Sharpe dropping a questionable take during Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Suns and Bucks.

Sharpe chose that moment to critique the participation of Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“Giannis needs to improve his conditioning. He only plays in 5-6 min stretches,” Sharpe tweeted.

People wasted no time giving Sharpe the ratio given the fact that Antetokounmpo is coming off a hyperextended knee and doesn’t have great conditioning right now for good reason.

Twitter blasted Shannon Sharpe for his terrible Giannis take

When a fan called him out on missing all that context, Sharpe brought it back to fighting for a championship.

That’s pretty unfair since the Bucks wouldn’t be there without Giannis and definitely won’t have a chance in the finals if Antetokounmpo aggravates his knee or gets injured in some other way.

Sharpe also turned the blame on Milwaukee head coach Mike Budenholzer.

None of that changes the fact that Budenholzer can’t ask Antetokounmpo to play more in the early games of the series.

Besides, Antetokounmpo’s minutes per game average wasn’t far off others. While he averaged 33.0, Donovan Mitchell averaged 33.4, Trae Young and Paul George 33.7 and Devin Booker 33.9. There’s not a great difference there.

In his first game back after hyperextending his knee during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Antetkounmpo had 20 points and 17 rebounds. That’s a far better output than the Bucks could have reasonably hoped for.

In the first half of Game 2, Giannis led his team with 12 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. It’s not like he wasn’t contributing.
