Twitter thinks Tyson Fury is ducking Deontay Wilder fight with COVID excuse
The upcoming heavyweight boxing trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is likely to be postponed after a COVID-19 outbreak in Fury’s camp.
After legal battles and back-and-forths on social media, the highly-anticipated trilogy between heavyweight boxers Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder had been set for July 24th in Las Vegas.
But a recent Coronavirus outbreak in Tyson Fury’s fight camp appears to be putting the fight date in jeopardy.
ESPN’s Mike Coppinger was among the first to report the news of multiple teammates in Fury’s camp testing positive for COVID-19. Shortly after the news broke, Top Rank Boxing issued a statement.
“We continue to monitor the health status of Tyson and his team, and the status of the event has not changed to date,” Top Rank said in a statement.
The latest development in the buildup to the Fury-Wilder trilogy bout shocked the fight community on social media, with many disappointed about the fight possibly getting moved back to the Fall. No official announcement has been made about the postponement of the boxing match, but it is widely expected that Top Rank will more than likely push back the fight to allow Fury’s camp to recover from the outbreak.

The fight is part of a joint pay-per-view between Top Rank and Fox and it is anticipated that if the fight were to be postponed, that September would be the most logical option. This would follow up the Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence Jr. pay-per-view held by Fox and Top Rank on Aug. 21.
