Braves: Bold fan not afraid to show how bad they want Brian Snitker fired
This fan wasn’t afraid to share what he thinks about what he thinks the Atlanta Braves should do with manager Brian Snitker.
It wasn’t long ago the Braves were just one win away in the 2020 NLCS from reaching their first World Series since 1999. The thought after last season was that Atlanta would be among the teams to beat in the National League following their playoff run, but it’s been anything but that so far.
The Braves (42-44) are sitting 4.5 games behind the division-leading Mets, and they are eight games out of a Wild Card spot. Among those on the hot seat might be manager Brian Snitker, and there are plenty of fans who are ready to see the team move on.
Among those in favor of a managerial change was this fan who made sure his message would get noticed while sitting behind the Braves’ dugout during a game against the Marlins on Friday.
Snitker, 65, has rubbed some folks the wrong way this season not just with the team’s record, but also with his actions.

Following a 10-8 loss to the Red Sox on June 16, Snitker didn’t shy away from publicly burying superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. during his postgame press conference. Acuña made a critical base-running mistake in the ninth inning which had a large impact on the outcome, which definitely seemed to trigger Snitker.
Thank god Ronnie has signed his extension because I wouldn’t play somewhere where my manager said idiotic stuff like this.... two hours after I got plunked and nobody stood up for me.

It’s pretty remarkable how Snitker seemed to throw Acuña under the bus in the team’s loss when he actually finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate and has been a focal point in much of the Braves’ success this season when they manage to win games. He’s benched Acuña before for “lack of hustle”, so maybe there is still some resentment from that.
Snitker and the Braves have had a lot of success together, so expect the leash to be very long. Still, when a team fails to live up to expectations, someone has to receive the blame. In baseball, it should be the man in charge.
